The Gran Meliá Fénix became part of The Leading Hotels of the World in 2003, just a few months after it opened. To achieve this accolade, the Gran Meliá Fénix successfully passed a standard evaluation process analysing 1,200 standards made by a team of experts in hotel guest rooms and public areas, as well as an analysis of operations and the services available in bars and restaurants, including room service and menu choices.

Particular attention was paid to the level of training and the standards of customer service. The Executive Committee analysed and evaluated the inspection report and its members voted for approval. Every year the same inspection is repeated with the same level of rigour as the first inspection to make sure that the quality provided continues to be of the highest standard.
